After using Scandisk, my IBM DTTA 350840 has corrupted FATs (1&2), so I can't retrieve data from it.
File names have been changed in 0 0 0 0.000, dimensions are impossible, but the directory structure is ok until the 2nd level (C:\a\b)
I tryed to recover data with EasyRecovery 5 Professional, but it find data only in the first 2 GB (of 8), so I need another idea.
Can you help me??

Copy 1 and 2 of FAT are damaged, and I have one image of the disk created in November with Norton Image (geometry of partition are the same, but files are different)

KXDJ,
Am I to understand that you had 8 partitions?

There still might be a chance if the drive has not been overwritten by eith fdisk, or some other data recovery software.

Since you bought and used EZ Recovery Pro and used it, I'm not knocking the product, however, its use is not for the weak of heart. I use it on occassion, however, it is not the one and only tool to use. I use several different utilities in my toolbox, some are commerical, shareware, freeware, and some I and others wrote.
Most of the software that I have viewed from these message threads are good, however, it is the knowledge of the internals of hard drives and their filesystems are what gets the data.

In your particular case, try a hex editor and see if the partition table is corrupted, rebuild if neccessary.

There is also the possibility that a virus ate it also. There are a few new ones out there (w32.klez?)

Hi Klon Shugart,

Any chance i can recover data after it has been overriden by Norton Ghost?

I've tried Easy Recovery and Final Data but doesn't work!!

Thanks.

Norton Ghost! weeelll,no. Since NG is a below int13 type software, there is no hope of recovering the data once written. sorry!
