Missing "SYMBOLS" from Insert Menu in Word 2000

Hello,

I am having a really strange problem with Word. It is missing the "symbols" icon in Word 2000. Its been there for years, and one of my users was going to use it (he does frequently) and now it is gone. Ive tried everything and I cant get it to come back. This also happened to another user for their printer icon, but it was a pretty good while ago. How can I fix this?

Im pretty sure the user didnt delete it, as it is a drop down menu and I dont think you can edit those. It is under the "Insert" tab.

Sorry I dont mean icon I mean menu item from the "INSERT" tab taht creates the drop down list.

I assume he is missing the Symbol option from the Insert menu?

Okay.

Tools-Customize.
Toolbars tab.
Highlight the menu bar. (leave the check in the box)
Hit RESET.
Hit OK.
Hit Close.
All done.
