I have an access database application which ran fine but right after the IT guy tried(but failed) to install the MS VS.net and MS SQL server developer edition.

I started to get this error"
"Missing or broken reference to the file "msado15.dll" version2.5.

So I went to the access vb Editor (TOOL->Refereces).
I see that checked list of Missing Microsoft access activex data object 2.5 library.

So I checked and and save it and closed it.

I reopened it and try to check that same library 2.5.
I don't see the library 2.5 anymore but i see 2.6.

SO I tried it but I get same error.
I can find the msado15.dll and reference it but I don't think that is 2.5 version.

How can I get the 2.5 library instead of 2.6??
Please help

Here is a link that will take you to a microsoft download page that will allow you to download and install all of the MDAC 2.5 version files.

This should solve your problem.

Just thought I would mention that the newest MDAC version is 2.8 so you are running a few versions behind.

Hope this helps.

Thanks jgroh9!

Why am I getting errors with the version 2.6??
Is it because I have used ADO objects only belonged to the version 2.5?

Should n't later version should cover the previous ones??

So I upgrade it to the version 2.8??
does the errors exist until I change the ADO ojects??

I am using the win2000 and i just started working at the govenment side and any kinds of upgrading is impossible??

All these problems started right after trying to install the MS VS.net and ms sql server develp edition which they tried three times but failed to installed.

It looks like they upgrade it to the version 2.6 a while they were doing the install.
What do I need to do??
1) fix my ADO ojbects...right now i can't tell which ado objects are older or newer. I am using pretty simple objects....

Please help.
Thanks.

qajussi,

Just download the file from the link I provided. That will restore all your objects back to version 2.5. Or you can download the newest version and install that as well. That version is 2.8.

The reason you are getting the error is because the MDAC version 2.6 must not have been installed properly.

Just following the instructions that accompany the download of either version of the MDAC components and you should have no trouble at all.
