We had a power failure that affected our Catalyst 6000's.
Following a reboot of the switch, module 16 is no longer available.
Module 16 is a multilayer switch featue WS-F6K-MSFC2 and is part of module 2 the supervisor card.
The switch has two supervisor cards installed (modules 1 & 2) and the "show module" command used to display modules 15 and 16 - now only 15 is shown. I have tried a cold reboot and a system reset, to no avail.
If I connect a console cable to the 1st supervisor card session 16 will not connect. If I remove and re-insert the 2nd supervisor card I get module 16 removed messages.
Is there any other way of checking the 2nd supervisor card or does it need to be replaced?

any ideas guys ?

Did you try connecting directly to the supervisor that isn't working and issueing the switch console command , the msfc may be stuck in rommon mode .

Access to Multilayer Switch Feature Module 16 now available through standby Supervisor Console

When connected into the console port on the standby supervisor card, I get the following which keeps repeating and I can not break out of the routine;

System Bootstrap, Version 12.1(11r)E1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
TAC Support: Copyright (c) 2002 by cisco Systems, Inc.
Cat6k-MSFC2 platform with 131072 Kbytes of main memory

open(): Open Error = -74
loadprog: error - on file open
boot: cannot load "bootflash:c6msfc2-is-mz.121-2.E"

thanks

Is there a valid image c6msfc2-is-mz.121-2.E in bootflash ? Looks like the boot statement isn't right , the file name is not correct , should be c6msfc2-is-mz.121-2.E.bin . Try just issueing "boot bootflash:c6msfc2-is-mz.121-2.E.bin at the rommon prompt .
