Hi all

I have a Lenovo J115 Desktop, which has a 250 Gb Hard drive. I used PQMagic to partition the drive into 3 partitions. A 50 GB Sys partition, a 100 GB App partition and data each. The Application partition, which is supposed to be a 100 GB partition shows that there is only 10 GB free space. But when I select all the folders (including hidden) and check their size it only shows about 16 GB. I am wondering what's going on? Any gurus out there..................can u pls help.

Thx

First of all,

When you set up the partition, are you sure you didn't just leave off a zero in the size you selected?

Also, to verify if something like this is the case, try looking at your disk under "disk management":

Right-click on "My Computer", Choose "Manage", then choose "disk management". You should see your hard drive on the right, and it will list out the partitions, as well as "unallocated space". See if that's where your space is.

If that's not it, it may be a BIOS or driver update that you need.

I did and it shows that this particular partition has about 90 + GB and that only about 17 GB available. I am not sure what the heck is going on.......

Its a standard Win XP Home edition that was OEM. I will try dban and report what I find.

Well............wahnula I am not trying to nuke my partition as there is data that I need. I am very curious as to what has happened to about 70 gis of space on a 100 gig partition. Disk mgmt also show the partition to be healthy. It shows as an "extended" partition. Wonder if that has anything to do with what's going on.
