We have been having a problem for about a week now. Payables transactions have hit the aging but not the gl. They arn't in batches or batch recovery. When I go direct to the GL20000 table and sort by journal entry number, there are gaps in the number sequence, almost like the records were deleted. The only people who have access to the journal know better than to delete records and Im the only one with direct access to the database. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

could it be as simple as dates? As in - is 2006 closed yet? Did you see if that sequence of numbers is in gl30000?

I'm a great fan of simple but no such luck. 2006 is closed and the dates seem to be right. Also I did a search for one of the dollar values that should have hit accounts payable with the smart list/ account transactions, and there isn't a tranaction for any date for that ammount.

Just for the sake of others reading this post, the problem was that someone had cleared both check boxes on the posting setup for payables. I didn't even realize that it was possible to do transactions that wouldn't ever hit the ledger.

Just for this reason we try to limit the access to the posting setup screen to just one user at the client's site. We've had this happen in the past as well. It wasn't caught until months later and it cost a lot of time and money to get all the correct information back into the GL.
