Hello - we use Crystal reports (& Actuate) to connect to db2 via ODBC. My coworker suddenly is missing some fields in the field list. If he connects via db2 server, he can see them all. Our company pushes a lot of automatic updates to our machines so we were wondering if one of those could have messed up some setting (mdac was one). He deleted & reloaded all of his connections in db2 & reinstalled MDAC, but still the field is missing. Any thoughts? Thank you!

When you state the field list, do you mean the field list available to formulas, or under the Database Fields? It's always bets to use real technical terms when describing a situation, as well as your version of Crystal.

Formulas will not show fields as available if they'r greater than 254 characters in CR 8.5 and below, but they should be available under Database Fields.

An automatic update might be a problem, if possible try connecting via MS Access using the LINK table, if you see it all from there then I would suspect Crystal, otherwise I'd suspect your setup.

HI - thanks for your response. We use Crystal 8.5 & I'm referring to the database fields. The particular fields used to show up & all of a sudden they do not (just a few of them). We don't have MS Access so we can't try that, but the same thing occurs with Actuate. They are string fields - 15 character length limitation. Thanks.

If it's happening across multiple tools, then it sounds like a set up issue to me.

Hopefully they can rollback the changes until it starts to work again.

I would suggest that you set up a test machine in your development area for testing major OS updates.
