When installing my Officejet R45 in WinXP, the add hardware wizard informs me that it needs hpousd10.dll
I have looked at HP forum site which mentions it is in the cab file for W2K and WinXP. I cannot locate this file in either?
Please help..
I also have the same problem with the HP OfficeJet R40xi. The hpousd10.dll is not on the installation cd, nor is it on the Windows 2000 or Windows xp cd that is stated in the Microsoft Support site. I have searched for days .. still nothing.
The printing is fine... but the scanner gives errors... when you try to install the scanner it says it cannot find the hpousd10.dll file.
This file should actually be located on your Win XP CD in the i386 folder. In order to transfer/install the file, it has to be extracted manually as it`s a .cab file.
See these links for further details:
I have been to the HP site you referred to witht he steps for the All-in-One setup.. completed this process 3 times... they do not work ...
I have gotten the furtherest by clicking on Scanner listing in the Device manager to update the scanner drivers .. .it starts fine then about half way through it it cannot find the hpousd10.dll file... and all you can to is exit out.
Try to locate the file in the i386 folder on your Windows CD from a command prompt. Quickest is to search for it by typing ex. dir hpo*.*. The file is probably called hpoud10._ll on the CD. Copy the file to a folder on your harddrive and type extract hpoud10._ll hpoud10.dll. If the file is inside a .cab file (zip like format...) you can probably open it like a zip file directly from Explorer and extract it from there with the correct extension.
I have searched (even in DOS mode) the entire Win 2000 disk (both disk 1 and 2 ... I have even searched the entire Win XP cd .. the file simply does not exist. I have the pro version of both.
Oki... When digging deeper into it , I found a place to download the file directly. There`s only 1 catch about it. It`s a german site !
Anyway go here :
and chose Systemfile-Center in the menu yo the left, then chose DLL-Files and find the hpousd10.dll file in the list. Click the link(s) and you`re well on your way getting the file !
Good luck
ok, that worked.. then it asked for another file that i found and moved on from there. Next thing, it is asking for hposcl10.dll .. which I cannot find. There is reference to it at microsoft regarding signability .. but no file for download. The treiber-archive site is down this morning.
I have found this file at dll-downloads. did the driver update for the HP Officejet R40xi scanner... told it to skip the hposcr10.ds file it was asking for and it finished... FINALLY, the scanner works in Windows XP!!!!
Sorry, misunderstood Your explanation. I thought You got it from: <did the driver update for the HP Officejet R40xi scanner>. Yea, You're right this is it ; it works fine, even with my hp1170c . . . Thank You very much from Germany

Anybody know what the registry entries for the HP R80XI should be. I went through the same thing and finally got it (the printer & scanner functions) installed, but now the printer only works for a few mimutes after restarting the PC, but then it gets an error when I try to use the printer.
I understand that there might be some specific registry entries for the printer.
Found were to get hpousd10.dll file. They charge a one dollar donation but its worth it to get access to all the files you need. Go to the web address:
