Hi, I'm using indesign CS on A G5 Mac with OSX Panther.
I'm trying to make a simple magazine ad with lots of photos of trucks and type under them giving specs of the trucks. the bottom line consisist of the stock number of the vehicle followed by a lot of periods then a price. The majority of the periods will not export to pdf and i can't figure out why. here is an example of what the bottom line looks like and then how it prints.

Looks like in InDesign
(G302) ........................................only $49,900

Prints and exports like this
(G302) ............ y $49,900

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Will it print to a printer ok??
or is it just PDF.???
Have you tried printing to a Postscript file (which I think Everyone should be doing) and then Distilling it to a PDF???
What font is it in???
Are they just full stops, or are they leader dots set up on a Tab??

There helvetica medium font and there simple periods. It works to print them to PS file first was hoping there was a way to export to pdf to save time but as long as it works i guess is whats important. Thanks for the tip :)

If you are concerned about saving time, you might consider using leader dots instead of periods.

Select the copy, click on the tab marker to set up a right hand tab & move it to where you want the right hand number to line up. Type a period into the "leader" box.

Now all you have to do is set your copy, hit your tab key & then typeset the number. The space between the last word & the number will fill with dot leaders.

I use this method & don't have any problems making pdfs directly from InDesign.
