The "bottom information bar' (I don't know the correct name for it - its the one that shows whether you are "INS" mode or "OVR" mode, among other things ) is missing when I compose mail. I am using Word 2003 for e-mail. The odd thing is that the bar is there when I use Word by itself.
I expect there is some simple setting that I've missed, though I have looked around. Can someone tell me how to get the "bar" back? Thanks

Outlook = 2003; Windows = XP

Hi,
I checked my Outlook 2003 (I also use Word 2003 as email editor on Windows XP). I don't think the "Status Bar" is shown in Outlook, only in Word.

Best,
Blue Horizon [2thumbsup]

BlueHorizon: Thanks for your comment. But Outlook at work is also running the same releases of Word and Outlook under XP as I have at home and it does have the bottom "status bar".

When you are in the email, using Word 2003 as the editor, go to View -> Options. The Status Bar option is on the View tab.

Quite why they have put it there rather than on View -> Toolbars I don't know. Perhaps just to keep us guessing.
