Seems like suddenly my NT 4.0 Server is missing its hidden administrative shares (i.e. C$, D$, etc.)

Usually a reboot solves the problem, but does anyone know why exactly does this happen?

never mind... answered my own question. :)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\AutoShareServer=0 (where 0 is disabled)

I have my servers set so that the shares aren't available. This is strictly for security reasons. My workstations are not set that way so that I can access their machines remotely. You have to have admin rights to get into the machine anyway.
