This is the first time i deal with backups.I've installed symantec exec backup 2010 on windows server 2003 with an axternal usb Dell PowerVault RD1000.

i've schedualed backup jobs, but i always get alerts of missed backup jobs.

i dont know if i created a job in a proper way, im not familiar with this.
i need help

thanks

Dell powervaults gernally need to be setup under the devices tab as a new backup-to-disk(B2D) folders in backup exec

Once its created ensure the destination is set to that B2D folder within the backup job (device and media)

Ensure you can access the drive via windows explorer and create files on it before setting up your backup to disk folder, it may need formated.

I have also seen these devices change drive letter after a restart. There are utilities about that can hard set the drive letter for you if this happens too.

Hope this helps !

Jamie
