Missed Backup - How Do You Reschedule??

Been using BE 9.0 for Netware for almost a year now. Overall, very satisfied with it...definitely better than our last backup program (Arcserve).

One thing still eludes me, though. In a rotation job if, for some reason, a backup job does not complete correctly, how can you re-schedule it? It use to be a cinch in Arcserve, but I cannot seem to trick BE into re-running the job.

One of the smartest things Veritas did in 9.0 was to add in Error-handling rules from there 8.6 NSE into the 9.0 product. The rules are very helpful for automatically rescheduling jobs if a particular error occurs. In your situation, I would recommend enabling the rule for when a job fails.
The one thing you must be aware of is, these error handling rules may trap more than one error for each of the defined categories.
Personally, I wish Veritas would have added functionality for more granular error handling. The 10 error handling categories are good start.

To enable the Error Handling rules:
- Click on Tools from the menu bar.
- Then click on Configure Error-handling rules.
- Highlight Job Errors, then click on Settings
- Check Enable
- Check Retry Options
Adjust the maximum number of retries and set the desired interval.

Hmm... I don't see "Error handling" underneatht the tools menu in BE admin console.
