I tried to install a 2nd Exchange 2003 server on a Windows Server 2003 which
had the Server 2003 SP1 applied.
An error message indicating that "there is a KNOWN Exchange 2003
incompatibility with this version of Windows" was displayed. There was no
information provided by MS about why the "incompatibility" exists and a
workaround - typical lack of MS information AGAIN.
I ignored the message and Exchange 2003 installed OK, from what I can
determine.
Any others experienced this situation?? Wasted a few hours of my time trying
to deteremine the cause and resolution - MS should lift their game and if it
is a KNOWN problem, advise users on their web site.

If you have SP1 for windows 2003 you will get this message as you need to apply a patch. on the error message it should give you the patch kb number. make sure you install sp1 for exchange as well.. before applying the patch.

Hi Asktheman, thanks for your speedy reply - much appreciated :)

I selected the link that was displayed in the message, only to be directed to the Exchange Website - the only reference to a patch was for a Clustered Exchange setup, which wasnt applicable.
Do you have the details on the patch to which you are referring?
