i have another question about the mirrored pagingspace(default hd6)
i mirrored my rootvg from hdisk0 to hdisk1 including default paging space - hd6.
but now i only can see one active paging space - hd6
who can explain that situation? i wonder if i should active anther one?
#lslv -l hd6
hd6:N/A
PV COPIES IN BAND DISTRIBUTION
hdisk0 163:000:000 56% 000:092:071:000:000
hdisk1 163:000:000 45% 007:074:082:000:000
lsps -a
Page Space Physical Volume Volume Group Size %Used Active Auto Type
hd6 hdisk0 rootvg 10432MB 36 yes yes lv
on the other hand, my dump device is not the default hd6, so should i mirror my dump device?

From the output, I couldn't see a mirror for hd6. However, you don't need mirror pagingspace, that may cause data lost.
Regarding dump device, you need create a mirror for it,thanks.

Sorry for a mistake at my prior reply, mirror paging space won't make data lost, but make system performance issue, thanks.

hmm.... i'm not sure for performance , but for security is better to mirror paging space if not your system will stop on hd6 disk failure.

bye.

actrually, i set the hd6 - MIRROR WRITE CONSISTENCY: off,
so, even though i mirror the hd6, the performance is not affected.
but that is not my question yet.
the important point to me is if i should active both paging space.

no , because there is only one paging space in your case.

bye.

Base from your original question

You mirrored your paging space which from your output is correct. Are you expecting that this will actually double your paging space when you do lsps -a? The answer is no.
Mirroring in LVM is creating additional PP for your LP - mirroring means you have one to one relationship of LP=PP .
mirroring it will either be 1 LP =2PP (using 2 copies) or 1 LP =3PP (using mklv -c 3 copies)

-- hope this helps----

man mklv

-c Copies Sets the number of physical partitions allocated for each logicalpartition. The Copies variable can be set to a value from 1 to 3; the default is 1.

that is the information about hd6

i am confused!
i'd tried to swapon the paging space - hd6, but i got the error message: swapon: Paging device /dev/hd6 is already active.

so i wonder how come the later ouptput showed the actived mirrored hd6.

it is possible that somebody mirrored the rootvg and then the guy forgot reboot the server.

you don't have any problem.
re-read answers from this post and from the other one.

bye.
