I have a perfectly running xp pro, 40 gig SATA hd.
I installed a secondary 40 gig SATA hd and want to mirror it.
The xp pro help tells me they both need to be Dynamic. I made the secondary dynamic but I dont understand what will happen if I make the primary dynamic. From what I can tell, it wont be bootable..?
So can I safely make the primary dynamic? Will I lose anything?
...:) im scared...

XP Professional and Home (without a hack) do not support software mirroring.

From :

"You cannot create mirrored volumes on computers that are running Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Professional or Windows XP 64-Bit Edition.

Use a disk imaging software tool (Ghost, Drive Image, others) to periodically throw an image of your system onto the 2nd HDD.

OR if you're just worried about data, setup a recurring Backup job (using ntbackup.exe) to copy the files/folders you want to the 2nd HDD in the form of a backup file (.BKF) You can then restore them if the first HDD goes south.

If the 2nd option suits you, I can give you a script that you can then schedule to run as often as you like.

thnx, we are just doing a net backup once a week instead. Its not critical stuff so no worries.
