Hi,

I have a MIRAN 2 card and no output on serial interface. I connected to the card using serial interface from card faceplate.
I have the 2_0_17c.mms image on CF.

Q: How can I rebuilt/reconfigure the MIRAN card from the scratch?

When you connected via the serial port, did you get a blank screen and did you use e.g. 9600 8 N one etc?.
If so, did you try to refresh the screen by pressing the ~ button?.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

"did you try to refresh the screen by pressing the ~ button?." - No

Have you tried rebooting the card with the Serial cable connected? You should see the bootup sequence. Also are you using the cable to the front panel or a DB9 cable the adapter on the amphenol adapter for the slot? I have had problems with the front panel cable not being able to seat all the way in so the connections are not made between the cable and the card connector. I don't recall whether the adapter requires a straight through or null cable to your PC, but I think it's straight through.

Hi steve64,

I tried only from the faceplace card and on reboot I can't see anything on serial.

The same also from slot using DB9...so I think the card is dead, but what is very strange, after reboot, the display on the cars shows RAAO

Sounds like the MRAN Card is Really a Remote Agent observe card. If you have another MIRAN card check to be sure the Part numbers on the CF are the same. Since the basic card is the same for both in the past I have actually been shipped a card that was supposed to be a MIRAN but it was actually had the RAO software CF. Do you have any other MIRAN Cards in your system? If not you need to program the at leat onetrunk for the card. If it is an RAO card and you use the DB9 it is 8N1, No flow control, and use a Null modem cable to your Laptop. Default Login is "admin" and password is "pwd" or at least that's what they used to be. It's been some time since I worked with one of these and am just getting this from my notes. Either way it does appear as though you have a non useable card.

Hi steve64,

I don't have other MIRAN cards on the lab system.

The MIRAN II has 2 slots for CF, one on faceplate, the other on the card, but both are empty.

I'll try to connect to the card using a null modem.

The socket on the card should have a CF installed. That is where the card software lives. Witout that the card won't do anything. The front panel slot can be used for backups, restores or installing the message files.

I think we are talking about different cards. My card is NTAG36AC. :)

The NTAG36AC is either a Miran 1 or two card. The fact that you can't connect via the serial port indicates that it's faulty. The only other card slot that exists will be a PCMCIA slot on the outside and I think an internal PCMCIA slot on the inside that allows you to add more memory is needed.

All the best
