Can Mint be used with Ellipse?...especially as (I believe) Mincom does not "support" Mint any more. [sig][/sig]

If you can get Ellipse with the Mincom transaction processor (TP) you may be able to run MIMS with Mint. (you need tp_tserv) You should note, however, that Mint is problematic with Windows 98 and above. Glen,
Thanks for the info.....I guess the next question is :-
What is the alternative ? We have 4.1 at the moment and I use both Mint from a DOS Window(3270 Session) and Scripting with the SmartGUI. [sig][/sig]

In terms of formal support on the Mint product, Mint will remain supported for MIMS versions 4.1 and 4.3 until these products are no longer supported. However Mint as a product is not supported for the Ellipse versions.

As you may be aware, Mint provides the two functions outlined below, and there are alternatives for both functions:

a. terminal emulation to allow a green screen type user interface for non-gui users. While Ellipse will still allow green screen use, there are a host of terminal emulation packages available (either at cost or free of charge) which can be used to provide this function.

b. scripting capability. This function will still be available and supported as part of the MIMSUI function within 4.3 and Ellipse. My understanding is that the scripts used under Mint can be used under MIMSUI without conversion.

If you need more info on this please feel free to contact your local Mincom Help Desk.

My understanding is -
If Mincom continues with Mincom TP - the tp_tserv will still be available. - but no new functionailty.
if you get Tuxedo - NO green screen only GUI or web.
if you get IBM websphere - it appears that a green screen interface will still be present.

But note all new development will most likely be in the WEB apps - (MSE) area.

Greg,
In the above posting, you say that Mint is formally supported. Is that what you really mean? I opened a problem report with it not working with Windows 98 and was told by the North American Help Desk that the product was no longer supported.

Should I re-open the work order?

Hi I have been trying to make a dde connection to the msqmui with delphi, do you have an example of how to do this, it would help me a lot,

thank you

Glen,

To clarify Greg's email about Mint. Mint as a terminal emulator is not supported with Ellipse, and it is not supported on Windows 2000. It is also not supported on Windows 98 when IE5 is installed as part of the OS. I hope that helps.

Mint script could be used to upload data to Ellipse.
However, you have to use GUI script to load it instead of normal Mint terminal. It works the same as Mint but the data will be loaded via MSQMUI and using scriptpp to compile your scripts rather than MINTPP.

I have done this in a project recently. No problem.

Thanks for all the replies....having moved on a little since first posing the question, I am now aware of a number of options
1. Green Screen and Imint
2. GUI Scripting
3. Scripting via Connector(VB etc)
All of which will satisfy my needs in this area

Thanks again
