Octel 250 issue; Can't dial into system, it has a brand new Robotics modem that was configured with correct AT commands and 1,4,8 are down(on) Procomm is set vt100 n 8 1. Could modem port be bad? Someone mentioned that one of the ASYNC ports could be configured to be used as modem?

Octel 350 issue; I am getting an NSA 5 volt power alarm in second cabinet and cannot clear it. The timestamp on it is always the time of my login?

I am new to Octel as well as this site so any advice, tips, hints and and/or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What do you get when yu connect to the modem? On the 350 do you have 3 5 volt power supply in the 2nd cabinet? If so does one of them have a light on?

With the modem I get garbage with the first 3 or 4 hits of the return key after that nothing at all. On the 350 the second cabinet has two 5 volt power supplies and neither has a light on it.

Thanks Ken

On the 25 are you sure that the emulation is set for vt100 on the Octel side? and you set it up just like the info below?

Beginning in December 2000, a 3COM/US Robotics 56K fax modem is being
shipped with the Octel 250. Previously, a Boca Research 33.6-Kbps modem was
provided. The US Robotics modem can also be used with the Octel 350 message
server.
Make sure you set the dip switch settings to the following:
Dip switch settings
Switch 1 = On
Switch 2 = Off (default)
Switch 3 = Off
Switch 4 = On
Switch 5 = Off
Switch 6 = Off (default)
Switch 7 = Off (default)
Switch 8 = On (default)
When initializing the modem, use the following initialization string:
ATE0Q1&C1&D0S0=1&N6&K0Y0&W0

As far as the 350 goes it may be both power supply's that are bad or just one that is dead without a failure light.

Is the 350 redundant ?

The modem is setup per the directions you have there. Can you direct me as to where to check programing on the Octel side? The 350 is redundant, would you suggest perhaps replacing both supplies in cab 2 if so what is the procedure? As you can probably tell I have no docs. or disk but am working on getting some from home office. Could it be as easy as manually powering down cab 2 swapping supplies and powering back up? Or is that wishful thinking? The 350 customer is pretty big and is 24/7.

No you would just replace one at a time while it is running
