Migration of Symantec Corp AV 9.0 to Etrust Corp

I work for a company that is going migration from Symantec AV 9.0 Server/Client to Etrust Corp Client 7.1. We are debating whether to re-image our PCs or manually remove SAV corp clients with registry edits because we were told Etrust will not run correctly even if it was removed manually... Is this true? Has anyone heard anything about this?

I don't know the aswer to your question, but I'm honestly curious as to why you're making this move, particularly given the rather nasty migration path you seem to be facing...
