Hi All,

I am new to Linux, we are thinking positively about migrating from MS Exchange(windows Platform) to to sendmail over linux platform.
We already have mail boxes and data in to ms exchange server.
is there any way i can migrate all the mail boxes, users and everything from ms exchange(windows platform) to sendmail(linux platform)

Sendmail is an mta or mail transport agent. It handles the comings and goings of mail on a particular server. If incoming mail is for a valid user, it is stored in a single file. For example, all mail for joe would be stored in /var/spool/mail/joe. Now when joe wants his mail, he connects to the server with his email client. The request comes in and is answered by the pop3/imap server (not sendmail). After authentication, the files is sent to joe's client. This is where the mail gets divided up into seperate messages. I'm only bringing this up because sendmail is not meant to do all the things M$ Exchange does. Your options would be a linux based collaboration suite or keep exchange and have sendmail send everything to the exchange server.

you could use sendmail and combine it with an IMAP daemon.
