I am testing the ADMT to migrate a NT4sp6 PDC to a new W2K server. I've followed all the many steps but am stuck on the -Migrate user part.

I cannot browse for a target ou when migrating a user. I've checked all KBs and followed all the setup procedures, trusts, rights etc..

Nothing.

Anyone please?

Thank you

James

is the domain controller you installed (Win2k domain) set up in Native mode or is it running in Mixed mode?

I take it that is no help?

Anyone else got any clues please?

James

When you say you can't browse for a target OU, what happens when you try? Also, are you running the ADMT on the domain controller itself?

Also, I'm confused by your top statement where you say you are migrating a NT4sp6 PDC to a new W2K server - I assume you mean your migrating users from a NT4 domain running sp6 to a windows 2000 domain controller?

Cheers, Antony

Hi,

Yes your assumption is correct, that is what I am trying to do.

When try browsing for a target OU, i get the hourglass which then drops to a normal arrow with nothing else.

If i use ldap in, it can't find the target OU.

Yes I am running the ADMT on the domain controller.

Have tried it on the primary with both 0 service pack and service pack 3.

Is that any good to you?

Fraid not! If the ADMT can't find the target OU when it's running on the very server that holds that OU in its database, there's something seriously wrong!

All I can suggest (if you haven't already) is make sure you've got the latest version of the tool and uninstall and reinstall it. Do you get any problems accessing the Active Directory database through Active Directory Users and Computers? Also, check the Event log on the AD domain controller for errors?

Sorry I can't be more help...

Hi,

There is nothing in the event logs and yes I can access the AD normally.

Doh!. Anyone else????

James

Hi,

Arrg, my ldap was not fully qualified, I missed out a dc.ac bit.

It doesn't explain why I could not browse, but least it works

Cheers for the help
