Does anyone knows the steps to follow when migrating AIX 5.2 ML5 to AIX 5.3 ML3.? And do I have to pay for this upgrade to IBM. Meaning I have the CD's for 5.3 which came with a new server, But I have a P630 that I want to upgrade. Do I have to buy 5.3? Thanks

From memory mate I think the software supp's you have with the 5.2 server (if kept'd upto date)will allow you to upgraded as long as your software support team or company are made aware of this.

Anyone can tell me the steps to follow and how long will take more or less. Thanks.

It depends on what is installed on the system. If you do a migrate update with the CDs maybe an hour or two (this is a wild guess).

As for the steps to take, when you got the P630, you should have gotten the manual "Installing AIX". "Migraing Your System from CD" starts on page 4. If you didn't, go to this link and you can download it for free:
