Hi

I have an old RIS server running Windows 2000. We have a nice new server running Windows 2003 and want to migrate our RIS to this new server.

We have installed RIS on this server and then copied and even restored from backup the REMIST share to this new server, this has all our images in and we want to still use them. When we boot up a client and log onto the RIS server it only brings up the flat image and a base image we created a while ago, that's all, not any of the other images we have.

If we look in Active Directory and check the server settings we can see all the images available, but why cant we see them when on the client?

Can anyone give me some advice on getting our RIS images onto our new RIS server.

Thanks

What you have done is correct. Might be worth checking the permissions on the reminst directory.

One thing to note is that the client will only be able to view the images which are compatible with it's HAL. Notebooks won't see PC Images.

Did you copy the whole\of the remoteinstall directory or just the images?

Hi cdove,

Thanks for the heads up on my question. You are right in what you are saying about only viewing the images that are compatible with the computers HAL

Thanks for that
