Hello Guys,
I currently have a 2k server which belongs to a workgroup. Which has several local user account.
I just created a new domain with a 2k3 server and install AD. I am now looking for a way to migrate the local accounts on the 2k server to the 2k3 box. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
AJZ

If your server is SBS then this can be done, otherwise it really can't. You can however fake the system out a bit.

What you can do is manually create matching IDs in AD and then point those users profiles to the ones stored on the member server. You will find the key you need to modify in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\sid\ProfileImagePath

How many IDs do you have to worry about? Do you need to script this or is it just a few IDs?

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Regards,

Mark

Mark,
Thanks for your response. We are running 2003 prem. I have about 30 accounts to create so it shouldn't be to painful.

AJZ
