I am running One-x in house but need to test Equinox for a client, am I righ t in saying theres no in house server part to equinox, its just the IPO and the cloud based free accounts for the presence and messaging etc?

Anyway what do I need to do to disable One-x portal and get up and running on Equinox, from the how to's Im guessing I need to disable the One-x bit in some way? Any links to how- to's would be great before I phone my channel support tomorrow :)

cheers

One-X portal and the new Zang cloud accounts are mutually exclusive. I just am doing a migration in my office. I haven't got everything working (Remote Worker). I have voice and IM but not presence. There also seems to be limited documentation on this. Let us know if you need help with anything.

NCDS | NCSS | APSS - SME | ACIS - SME | ACSS - SME | ACIS - UC | ACSS - UC | APSS - SCOPIA | APDS - SCOPIA | CCENT

They are not mutually exclusive. They are simply nothing to do with each other.

You can run both and have some users on portal and some on Equinox - but apart for making calls to each other through the IP Office they won't share IMs, presence. [If you really want, the same user can be logged in on both at the same time and making/answering calls on both.]

That all means that you can trial Equinox without having to upset your existing portal users until you're happy. The licenses are pretty much the same as well so you're almost already good to go.

Issues with not being able to use Equinox externally are usually down to DNS and ports.

So Sizebut, can I get presence etc just by pointing the equinox client internally at the IP office as long as I have preferred edition license and a teleworker license for shared control?

Ok so Creating new SIP users seems to work fine, presence works as well without any messing about but I need the shared control to work as well and it seems my existing extensions which have been used on One-X portal dont want to let me log in. Which is fine for the new customer install as long as it works, play about a bit more tomorrow..

I am in the same boat and have Equinox set up and working and was even able to get the auto-configure option using an email to work.

The only problem i have is that the IM portion does not work. I have two users with Zang accounts, currently logged into Equinox with Zang Account and everything works except instant messaging. I cannot chat with anyone in our office that is also logged in via equinox. Search in contacts and found them in enterprise directory, but when I highlight over chat is says “Contact does not have a messaging address.”

The image/avatar circle does not update with the Zang image.

Looking in the KB it appears there is an "advanced" installation of Equinox. It shows different command options, but i am not sure if that is needed and where to run these commands:

Advanced Installation

The following command line options can be used to install/uninstall the Windows client. Note that the silent options only work with administrator privileges.

Command options can be combined, for example using "Avaya Equinox Setup.msi" /qn N0QOS=1 IMPROVIDER=1

•Enable IM Provider (disabled by default): "Avaya Equinox Setup.msi" IMPROVIDER=1

FYI thought I would share - I just had my question answered by our Avaya Channel SE. He had me add the ZAng Spaces login account for the user (ie their email address) to the Unique Identifier on the User tab in manager and now I have IM in Equinox to other users setup in ZAng/Equinox. I was also made aware that the deskphone control is already a part of Equinox at R11.0.2 and Equinox 3.4.10 via the options on the bottom right corner. I thought that was a roadmap item, so glad it is not out there and working.

Cheers all, internally it all works like a charm, so easy compared to One-X .. just going to forward the ports for the external stuff now :)

@Plug2012, did you find a clear walktrough to setup Equinox mobile on public network?

You need to make sure you have SIP Remote Worker settings set up properly.

Different from One-X Portal, there are no ports to open, EXCEPT whichever SIP ports you will use, as well as RTP/SRTP.
So either 5060 or 5061
And RTP/SRTP...

Obviously an SBC would be better than SIP remote worker, but if you are asking how to set this up, I am guessing that SBC is above your comfort level.
