I have Exchange 2000 SP3 running on an old Compaq Proliant.

I have a new Server that I wish to move all configuration/Mailboxes/Information store etc to..

Whats the best way to do this?

I will name the Server the same hostname as the previous Exchange Server. Give it the same IP configuration. Install Exchange 2000 and then SP3.

I use ArcServe as my Backup agent, should I simply do a brick level restore from this, or is there an easier way?

Thanks, that link looks perfect, Active Directory is also on this Server & it's also a Domain controller - I'll post about that in a different forum.

If it's a DC, you'd be better off migrating Exchange to a new machine with a new hostname. Then, follow

How to remove the first Exchange 2000 Server computer from the site

Leave the old server up for a while and clients should redirect automatically, IIRC (for 2000).

But, you're behind the times. You should consider upgrading to 2003. Otherwise, you're about to be two versions behind.
