How do I go about migrating from Exchange SBS 2000 to Exchange 2003?

Any articles, links, references would be appreciated.

Thanks,

G

Please be more specific. Are you getting rid of SBS or upgrading SBS to 2003? Are you leaving SBS 2000 and adding a new server to run Exchange?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

I'm adding a new Windows 2003 Server + a new Exchange 2003, the existing SBS 2000 will be nuked after the migration.

thanks,

G

Do you already have additional domain controllers? Exchange requires AD. If you remove the SBS you need to have a new DC.

How many users do you have? You may be better served with a fresh install in parallel. Removing SBS has some funny problems down the road.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Simplest way,

Export mailboxes using Exmerge. Use Outlook to archive all public folders. Create a new domain and install Exchange with \forestprep and \domainprep switches. Create all user accounts and use Exmerge to import the databases again. Use Outlook to import the Public folders.

This is a very simplistic way of doing it.
