My customer took the opportunity to purchase a 6 term Aloha 6.7.52 TS system from another store in the same chain that was closing to replace his 7 term Aloha 6.7.31 TS. He also picked up their menus so we don't have to worry about changing or migrating the menu items/pricing on the new system - he'll just use those from the other restaurant.

I would appreciate help in making this swap happen to try to avoid "gotchas" and to try to keep from doing excess work if possible.

1. How do we transfer employee, tax, credit card, company info, etc. from the old system to the new system without having someone enter it all by hand? Again I would like to avoid replacing the menu/pricing info on the new system during the transfer.

2. Can we transfer historical data from the old BOH to the new BOH, or do we need to keep the old BOH available if that data is needed?

3. I notice on the old BOH that there are daily folders dating back about 6 years (I'm guessing these are daily backups or reconciliation folders from doing end of day?) Do these need to be copied to the new BOH? Are these of any help in doing the migration?

4. Is there anything else I should be asking? (My expertise in this is more along the lines of networking and hardware with general software knowledge.)

Thanks for your help!
Bob

All store information is located in the newdata folder. System specific files will be the Aloha.ini and edc.ini.
Depending on what flavor of Aloha manager you are using will decide which is the next step.
Moving historical data is just coping the dated folders.

For more detailed steps please follow up what version of Aloha manager you are using. Old Blue icon or new orange icon.

Ok, I am now officially confused as to what version the new server is running.

If I look at bootdrv\aloha\bin, most of the executables (alohamgr, ctlsvr, dbconfig, etc.) are all v6.7.52. Edc and EdcSvr are v12.3.15.

There is an orange "New Aloha Manager" icon on the desktop which points to bootdrv\cfc\instoreinstaller\cfcshellbootstrapper which is v15.6.0.8822.

Thanks again for your help.

SO here is what is running
Aloha manager 15
AlohaPOS 6.7
EDC ver 12.3

You still need the newdata folder but will need to reinstall Aloha in multiple steps. You will have a large amount of work ahead of you. Just depends on if they were Using CFC or a multi site CFC. If not sure what you are doing, I would push to someone who does. Or look forward to a lot of work ahead of you

Would it make more sense to clear/wipe the employee database from the new system, then manually add the current employees. Obviously this would then require changing the location name, tax rate, and any other location specific data. Historical data would not be readily available on the system; but for that we could re-name the existing BOH and fire it up whenever historical information was needed.

Does this make sense? Would it reduce the amount of work reinstalling etc.?

Thanks,
Bob
