I understand that you can package a conversion from MR2 to version 8 but is there a means to individually import such as "Saved XML" etc... from prior versions of reportnet to version 8

Thanks

I'm interested in knowing the answer to this as well - what I've been doing is packaging up the whole thing in an export, importing it into a new package in 8, and then copying the one or two reports I need into whatever folder I have set up in 8. Takes a long time and I'd rather just export a single report.

Hi,

Can you no longer "Open report from clipboard"?
(assuming report studio)

Nuffsaid.

all you have to do is copy the report to the clipboard from the tools menu in reportnet and then open it from clipboard in cog 8. there might be some things that do not work and you will have to re-work in cog 8. but for hte most part, it will be fine.

Hey misscognos - I assumed this method originally. However I’m getting the error:

The report version " is not supported. Cognos than ends the import transaction at this point.

I understand that I could go in and edit the XML and most likely get it to open, but this method is cumbersome and leaves a lot of room for possible error. What I'm looking for is a clean method to import prior versions other than to package them up and republish. An argument exists for the use of reports in one area of the country under a prior version being sent via email as XML and used in a version 8 site in an another area of the world.

We really would refer that a Cognos approved method be available for this purpose.

Any suggestions?

NEAR, you are correct. I was mistaken. You can't do that. Dont' know of any other way than deployment.
