I'm building a 2000 server for a small company. They currently have one Novell 4.11 Server. The only thing I need off the old Novell server are the shared files used by the employees. Once I get the 2 servers side by side on the network, what is the best way to do this assuming that I dont know any Novell commands at all. And how long does it take. Thankyou for any help you may have.

That's quite simple. Use a workstation, install the novell client for windows, and log onto the Novell server as admin, and onto the windows 2000 domain as administrator. This way you have full access to the win2k server shares, and full access to the novell volumes. Then just use any file copying util (like windows commander) or windows explorer to copy the files from the novell volumes to the win2k shares. Might take a while, but it's the easiest way to do it.
I wouldnt advise installing the novell client directly on the server, as you will have to uninstall it after using it to free up resources. The uninstall procedure sometimes mucks up, and that's bad, trust me. To put it simple it means u'd have to completely reinstall win2k server.

Great!

That is exactly the information I was looking for. I figured it could be done that way, but I wasn't sure. I need to know before I charge the guy to do it. :)

Thanx a million.
