a tech recently disabled whatever option disables unequipped jacks in the midnight routine because he had unplugged a partner's phone for a power down and the partner's office door was locked so he couldn't plug it back in and he didn't want the partner's phone to be disabled the next morning. How do i reactivate that in the midnight routine? and what is the purpose of having the switch disable unequipped jacks anyway?

Hi,
The midnight routtine feature turn on by prompt OVLY in overlay 17 , you can disable the overlay command 30,34,38 from OVLY , the midnight will be skip the disable digital phone if you unplugged the phone jack..
Good Luck

well, I want to put it back so that it DOES disable unequipped jacks. But I'm also curious as to what benefit it serves to disable unequipped jacks.

ld 30 was taken out ofthe midnite routines. Just put it back in.

You probably have 030 missing from the DROL. Just go to LD 17.

DROL: 030 <-- PUT THIS BACK IN AND IT WILL ADD TO MIDNITES

Hope this helps.

thank you. this is very helpful. But I STILL want to know, for curiosity's sake, WHY DO PEOPLE SET THEIR MIDNIGHT ROUTINES TO DISABLE UNEQUIPPED JACKS IN THE FIRST PLACE?? THANKS

don't know why. we do it to see what out there has been unplugged and needs to be checked. Sometimes the cleaning people unplug phones to clean (don't know why) sometimes, people unplug phones in conference rooms to move them out of the way...some people just try to take them home. We use LD 30 to find out what is missing.

I have fourteen remote locations across the country and the remote office managers are always calling me because they plug a phone into a jack that they previously removed the phone from because noone was using that office any longer and now someone is going to use that office but they never remember the DN that was in there so they always have to hire a tech to tone out jack. Wouldn't it be easier for them (and me) if I just DIDN'T disable unequipped jacks? then they could just plug in a phone (provided, of course, the jack's already cross-connected)?

If you have remote offices, why don't you just quickly re-enable the ports and bring them all up.

This will enable all the phones and they can tell you what the extension is. Then during midnights all the unplugged ports will just disable.

If you are spending money each time to tone a jack, you should just pay one time to have a TN punched down to each jack and have your vendor tell you what TN/EXT is punched down to each voice jack and keep a spreadsheet. If there are not that many people, this type of site survey would pay itself off, over the long run.
