Hi guys, I need your help with this. I will be upgrading a system that is currently a MICS 4.1 CDA XC. Our company had ordered a DR 7.0 software but what I have is an upgrade toolkit for MICS 7.0 CDA XC. Will this work? I read somewhere that there is a different upgrade toolkit for a DR 7.0 Software. If so, should we just purchase an upgrade toolkit for a DR 7.0? But won't I have a problem since we are going from a 4.1 CDA XC? Or should we have the DR 7.0 replace with 7.0 CDA XC? The customer has no companion phones and is just mostly digital and analog trunks with Norstar Voicemail with Cimphony software that will also be upgraded.

the XC on the software allows for (2)6-port exp cards. If you have 2 of these in your cabinet, you must have the XC verison of your upgrade for everything to work properly.

Yes, currently we do have 2 6-port exp cards and we will also be changing 1 of these to be a combo expansion card. So it sounds that we just have to order an XC software since they are now currently on 4.1 XC and our upgrade toolkit is also an XC. Thanks.

By the way, what's the difference between an XC and a DR software? Can you have 3 DTIs and 2 expansion cards with a DR software and can I use this software if I were to network the MICS with a BCM400?

XC allows for 2 6pt cards. Without XC it will be incompatible. Regular DR software will allow for 1-6pt and 1-2pt exp cards. There are more factors to take into consideration other than XC vs. DR when networking..

Hey, RYLSFAN,

Can you confirm that you can run a 6 port fiber expansion along with a 2 port fiber expansion with DR sofware? I had been told that "two fiber expansion cards" require the XC software.

Thanks in advance.

Can someone confirm that you can have a 6 port fiber and a 2 port fiber card in a system with out having XC software. The documentation does not cover this setup. It addresses, a single 2 port, a single 6 port, and then two 6 port cards, and does state that the XC is required for two 6 port cards. The system now has a single 6 port fiber card, and I have a 2 port on the shelf I would like to use, and not buy the XC software unless it is required.

Thanks in adavance.

It should be a 2 port or a 6 port with normal software not both at the same time.

I ask the question because of the post above by "RYLSFAN".

Maybe I just read it wrong.

Thanks
