Do you need a Caller ID card in order to have the Telco's voice message indicator to appear on a Norstar telephone set?. I have programmed all the MICS settings in CONFIG, but still no luck. It will work on a single line caller id unit purchased from Radio Shack. Any iudeas?

if you talking about a visual message waiting indicator, then u need to have a voicemail system (like callpilot)on hte norstar

callerid has got nothing to do with message waiting

If you are using a off premise Voicemail such as the Telco's Business voicemail or MCIMail then you have to first make sure that the telco is sending you Visual Message Indicator (this is a bit/word in the caller ID packet. (in the case of the VMI the caller ID packet is not necessarily sent between rings)
You must have a Caller ID card.
after these two then you set the Config programming in Lines, terminals&Sets and System Programming.
