Hi Everyone,
I just Moved a MICS R1T1 with 2 ls/ds cartridges, did a startup on it, and everything is programmed and works great execpt.... when I try to program line 005, it says "unequipped", but in the maintenance section, it sees the "2TC'S on TM 2", but when I hit "TC", it will only display info an TC 1 as "4 lines on TC 1" There are 4 lines on the second LS/DS module.... What am I doing wrong here???

Thanks a million,
Metroman

Update:

It now says on TC2: "4 lines on TC 2"
But when I try to edit Line 005, it still says "unequipped"

HELP!!!!!!!!!

Your 2nd TC has lines 025-028 on it, try and program line 25.

Are you sure, because when i'm assigning lines to a DN, it says specifically 001, 002, 003, 004 ,005 ,006, etc, etc. I didn't see anything like the CICS s/w...

Keep in mind that this is Release1 T1 sofware (OLD!). I tried switching the to LS/DS cards in it, and when I restarted, no change.... Tried a brand new CLID card in it's place, no change..... This has to work or I'm TOAST!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHH!

Wspence is right. When using only LS/DS trunk cards the first 4 lines are 001-004 and the next 4 lines are 025-028. This is because the system allows for the use of T1 cards which have up to 24 lines/channels each. Hence the first trunk slot is allotted lines 001-024 and the second slot is allotted lines 025-048. OK dumb suggestion but... since this is a move are you sure there is dial tone at the port connection and are you sure the 25 pair cable is properly seated?

PhM

wspence is right... the lines on a mics go 1-4,25-28,49-...
so if you were to assign nine lines on a 7324 you would assign 1, 2, 3, 4, 25, 26, 27, 28, 49,...
The reason for this is the capability for plugging in t1 cards one t1 has the capacity for 24 lines.

PhM, that's not a dumb suggestion, I have saved alot ot KSU's that other techs thought were dead because they never even bothered to check the connector... anyways, I'm going to see if the Lines 025 and up are the case at 8:00AM sharp on Monday...I'm sure you guys are right, and that system swaps are better left for times other than 3:35 AM....ahhhhh the life of a tech.....

Thanks everyone,
will tell you how it went Monday.

Metro,
Having read all the above posts, I remember something about the first releases of R1T1 and think that they did allow you to show line 5 6 7 etc, but that you needed to scroll up to 025 to get the fifth CO loop start. The R1T1 installation manual I have does show the spacing for the T1 card.

PhM

Arr,
You are absolutely correct,in the T1 release it shows line 01,02,...05.,06....,025,026.like the VM it shows the same thing 01,02,,,05,06,,,,,025.
It was confusing back then for most of the installer, you will have to skip to the 025 to program line 05,Not like the newer versions doesn't mention at all line 05 it will skip automatically to 025.I hope that help.

Sam,
Hey! This is the one time I'm not confused!

PhM

if the system is european the next analogue or loop lines start 031-034 so as to accomodate 30 digital lines.

just another thought make sure by looking in hardware the system recognises cartdrige as loop, if not you will need to go to maintenance to disable it, change it in hardware, and enable it in maintenance again. if you've done a complete system restart then ignore last paragraph!lol

One more thing: if line 25 doesn't work, and since this is a used system, maybe there's a bad port on the LS /DS card. Try disabling and enabling the port again, see if that makes a difference. If not, yes, check the demark for dialtone, and for swapped wires on tip and ring at he demark, and the 25-pair amphenol block. Wouldn't be the first time.
Good luck

Hey Guys,
I'm off to check it now.... Give you news aboot it later!!!

Very Many thanks for all the help......Talk to you later!

A nice note on the Ver 6.0 Cics; the 5th trunk is line # 31.
I went back and double checked and I am not config'd for european, the docs show trunks 31-34 where they were showing 25-28. JerryReeve

Well, I'm at the site now, and you all have proven to be incredibly helpful. It was a long week, and I have moved 139 systems this year, and this was my first pre-version 3.0 MICS, and I sort of forgot about those version didn't distinguish btw LS/DS cards and DTI cards.

I have proved three very valuable points:

1. Don't move phone systems after 3:30 AM on a Friday after a long week

2. Don't panic when lines don't work because you forgot a programming fundamental when working on phone systems after 3:30 AM on a Friday after a long week

3. Every software before v4.0 was fairly confusing when you forgeta programming fundamental when working on phone systems after 3:30 AM on a Friday after a long week

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!
