MICS No lines in or out???

Greetings All,

I'm working on a small MICS system and I can't seem to dial out or receive incoming calls on the analog trunks (L001 and L002).

DN221 has line assignments for both as Appear&Ring and Prime Line assigned to L001.

Line001 is Trunktype:Loop, Linetype:public
PrimeSet: 221
Trunk Mode: Unsupervised

In maintenance I can see the phone as idle on P0101 with the proper DN(221), yet if I go off hook, my line shows on the display as Line001 TRANSFER and I get no dial tone. Furthermore, if I dial the line from the outside, nothing appears on the phone. I know I must be missing something, but I'm at a loss here. Any help/direction would be greatly appreciated. TIA folks.

Sounds like you do not have dial tone connected to lines ports P0201 and P0202.

Check your Line amp is the bottom connector on the MICS.
Top to bottom:
Stations 1-24
Station 24-32 MOH AUX PAGE
Lines

Check you have connected to the correct ports which would be wh/bl and wh/or pairs on the Lines amp cable.

Check that you back off on the amp screw (or remove it) and that the amp is in all the way.

Check you have a Line Card installed in the left slot

Check you have dial tone from the carrier.

Check programming under Hardware that you have it as a Loop card.

Once you sort it out change lines (Trunk Mode) to "Supervised" so a hangup is registered.

Thanks all. Trunk card is in the right most slot, but here's the thing...That's the only card in the MICS other than the NVRAM card. It is configured for Loop and I can dial other DNs (222), just no "connection" between the stations and the trunks. I've confirmed that dial tone is on the trunk all the way to the punchdown.

Well, punched the line down to 003 and assigned 003 to appear&ring on 221. When performing a *0 I see the key assignment to 003, but if I go off hook and press the key...nothing....no dial tone and the display says "Line001 TRANSFER". It must be something I'm overlooking I think as I'm not a Norstar guru. <sigh>

And again, I can call from one station to the other just fine...Just can't seem to be able to grab a line. <scratches head>

One thing I just noticed...After rebooting, when I perform a feature *0 and select the line, then select SHOW, it displays a "not in service" for a few minutes and then "not redirected". Could this be a flaky line card?

Try card in left slot then reprogram set for 031-034 and test dial tone on all 4 ports
Sounds like Line Card is bad.
Check for bent pins on back plane too.

So I tried as you suggested and still no joy. Put the card back in the original slot and then after a few minutes received a 52-02-2 alarm. I'm beginning to suspect the line card as well.

Bad amphenol cable? I have had that happen, also stupid question, did you confirm dialtone on the lines at the D mark?

I've seen Amphenols made backwards. Try v/sl and v/br pairs for lines 1 & 2.

Yes, I have verified dial tone all the way. I'll try punching down to the violet/slate and brown pairs...Definitely worth a try. Thanks folks.

Well that didn't resolve the problem. I'm going to try a different card.

phoneguy nailed it...swapped out the amp cable and everything works like a champ. Muchas gracias Amigos.
