Hi All...need to setup a Boss loud ringer with is a Mics system. The purpose for this, is to have a few selected indviduals that call the office afterhours, be able to dial a virtual extension # i.e 555 which would ring on the boss loud ringer, and at that time the call be intercepted by someone in the office before going to VM.
How can this virtual extension be created for this purpose, and what would be the punchdown be on the pinout side for this.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

See our FAQ's for pinouts/wiring please....AUX RING port.

You can use an unused port/DN for your phantom.
Tag the port for people not to use and it's DN/Ext

Setup that DN as allowing AUX = Y

Setup a service Night Mode and add your phantom DN as the member.

Hookup an Aux Ringer to the AUX Ring port then over to your AMP/Speaker.

You may need some tech training or call a tech if unsure of any the above.

Hi..Curly, thanks for your reply, clarifies a lot, just a bit confused on the service night mode and addding the phantom DN, if
you can please explain a bit more on this, Appreciate it.

Yo don't need night service if the call is coming in through the AA and caller knows to dial 555.

I was able to change an unused DN to 555, and have a phone ring on it...however stil have to connect the louder ringer on the Aux output and see if it will ring, when 555 is dialed (Aux ringer set to Y), don't know if we will still need to punch down something on the DN side? otherwise it says DN not assigned, Thx.

The first thing you should do is connect the loud ringer to the system. Then, you should make sure it works by turning Auxiliary Ringer on for a set and calling this set: you should hear the loud ringer. (Don't forget to turn Auxiliary Ringer off for the set when you are done.)

Once you have the loud ringer working, you can worry about programming.

If you are going to use an unused DN, you need to make sure there is a ringing Answer button for that DN on an existing phone. Otherwise, the Transfer Callback feature will return the call to the AA because the DN is not in service and callers will hear a message saying that the person they are calling is not available.

You will also need to plan how you are going to answer calls ringing on DN 555. Calls can be picked up on the phones that have an Answer button for 555. If you need to pick up the calls from other phones, users will need to use the Directed Pick-Up or the Group Pick-Up features. Note that the Pick-Up features can only pick up calls on phones that are actually ringing, i.e. the ones with an Answer button: DN 555 is not actually ringing because it doesn't have a phone attached to it.

An alternative to Phantom DNs are Hunt Groups. Hunt Groups don't require a dedicated Answer button (calls for the hunt group can ring on Intercom buttons), they can activate the auxiliary ringer and they can have their own mailbox. Hunt Groups are available on MICS 4.0 or later.

Thx for the detailed info Multimedium, should be able to get it going, the Hunt groups seems like a better option.

Curly..."It" was being referred to a set you would be dailing from.

What is the message that appears on the display?
[ul]
[li]If you see "Invalid number", it means that DN 555 doesn't exist.[/li]
[li]If you see "Not in service", it means that DN 555 doesn't have a phone attached to it (which is fine) and that there is no Answer button for DN 555 on any existing phone (you need to change that). This message also appears if you are calling DN 555 from the one and only phone that has an Answer button for DN 555.[/li]
[/ul]

Mutli is right! Thats my bad!
I forgot to add a step.
If you do not add at least 1 Answer DN of 555 to a set then you will get Invalid DN because it has nowhere to ring at.
SETS/22X/LINEACCESS/ANSWERDN/ add 555
You could add receptions DN in this case.

Hunt groups is better if you have, you should always note your model type ksu and its software version when posting.
Asking how to fix a chevy but not telling us which one and which year makes it difficult.

HG's came out on MICS and CICS 4.0
They ignore timer setting on other sets like Call Forward No Answer so if you have them use them instead.
Your system DN's must be set to 3 digits or higher for HG's to appear in programming

SystemProgramming/HG/0X/ add member/s -you need a minimum of 1 member to get the AUX port to ring, same as Answer DN.
SystemProgramming/HG/0X/AUXRING/YES

You cannot change the DN of the Hunt Group so 555 is out.
If HG01= DN269 then have people call 269

You did not mention if you are Auto Attendant as well, if no AA then use Service Modes, if AA then just dial 269 from AA.

Actually, Hunt Group DNs can be changed as any other DN: System Programming > Change DN.

When prompted for the Old DN, use the current HG DN. The actual HG DN depends on the version of the software. For example, in the latest releases, HG 01 is assigned DN 739 by default.
When prompted for the New DN, use 555.

As far as I know, it always worked. I've done it on CICS 4.0 and MICS 4.0, as well as later releases.

Hi.Curly AA is not being used in daytime as Recp is answering calls manually, night time AA is on..
Should have mentioned this before it's a MIcs 7.1, shouldn't be any problem for what needs to be done.
Will try it out, and let you know if any issues...Thanks again guys for all the help, much Appreciated.
