Hi Everybody

Pikk here. I have a real head scratcher problem on our Norstar here. This just suddenly started happening about 2 weeks ago and I've since had Bell in to check lines and the LD company to look into it also. No problems there. I'm convinced it is the switch. Here's the synopsis:

We have 10 external business lines and 8 of these are accessible thru our linepool for outbound calls.

It appears that on certain lines (in our linepool)when someone accesses them...and makes an outbound call, the called party either cannot hear us or there is a clicking sound on the line that sounds a lot like a hook-flash. It will even at times...disconnect the called party. This is intermittant and does appear to happen on inbound calls but very rarely. I've basically put in a workaround by removing two of the "possible" bad lines from our linepool to see if this has any effect. Phone company swears it's not them.

Is this a common occurence or has anyone had this problem before? Any help would be much appreciated!

Are the two lines in question on the same trunk card? DueE

Hi DueE

Yes, we have a 12 line trunk card with all 10 lines going to it. They are Bell CO lines with a circular hunt option. My Line Pool is setup with 8 of these lines in Line Pool "A". Generally, when someone grabs an outside line form teir Norstar set, they will usually get the next available line starting from the bottom of the hunt. On in-bound calls...it hunts from the top down.

I have noticed that since I removed Line 26 and 28 from my Line Pool, the problem has not occured.

My Line Pool is setup as follows:

Lines 1-4 and then 25-28 are my usual "A" group. I've removed 26 and 28 and added 49 and 50 to it instead. This is when the problem seemed to disappear. However, calls can still come in on 26/28 but no one can place an outbound call to them now.

Hope this helps break it down a bit better.

TIA,

Pikk

Just a suggestion, but I'd try a different trunk cartridge for lines 25-28 and monitor the issue.

Something to think about:

If you switch trunk cards and it persists, you might want to disable that module, then go back in and re-enable it.

Sometimes, that will clear any timing or noise issues you might have.

Hope that helps.
