Customer has small business, and instead of ordering a new phone line, they would like to use their DSL dial tone, through their MICS. I was told to put the DSL filter before the MICS, and then out to the DSL jack. This sounds ok, except, does the MICS or better yet can the MICS see the filter, and let the necessary freq. pass to the modem?
Has anyone installed this type of config.? if so how is it laid out. Thanks in advance.
Brian

Think of the DSL filter as a splitter.
It as one input and two outputs.
One output is "regular dial tone" and the other output is data.

Connect the voice output of the splitter to the KSU as any other analog line.
I have done many systems and they all work fine.

But know this...you MUST use the splitter on a DSL line.

I've done this a few times on the CICS and customer has never complained. Filter goes before the system and simply terminate to PBX.
Not sure if this would apply to the MICS as well.

Thanks for the posts. Let's me know I am on the right track.

Yes, it will work fine. I have done it many times. As for passing frequencies through to the modem, are you asking about the DSL modem, or a modem connected to the MICS?

The DSL modem should have straight dial-tone (no filter.) Put the filter on only for the same dialtone that is going to the MICS.

So, you split it a block... straight unfiltered DSL to DSL modem, and another filtered x-connect to the MICS.

Thanks for the help guys. Finished the install on Sat. and the customer was really happy. Ended up adding 2 dsl lines to the newly installed MICS.
Thanks again
Brian
