MICS 6.0 + 2nd PRI + MCDN 1

We have two sites networked together using PRI enabler and MCDN. We want to add a second PRI, connecting site(A) to the public network (replacing 29 analog trunks). The existing clock source for the original PRI in site A, is set to Primary, and type to "MASTER".

When the new Digital Trunk has been installed will these setting need to be changed so that the PRI connecting to the Public network becomes the master and the existing master to slave and secondary? Or would it matter as both would have their own internal CSU?

when in a peer to peer network (norstar to norstar) ...one of them is master and the other is slave.

whenever connected to the central office, norstar must be configured as the slave.

CO PRI will be primary and 2nd PRI will be secondary
and the other norstar will have to derive the clock from the 1st norstar which has the CO

CSU is similar to a repeater ... it doesnt generate its own clock.

Does that make the combo card in the CO -connected KSU redundant? I have to relocate a analog trunk card to a trunk module to free up a slot for the second PRI. To connect the trunk module to the KSU, I'll need to install a second fiber expansion card beside the existing combo card. Is this acceptable??

If you add another expansion card you'll need to have XC software.

no it does not ...the combo card is a must with a digital trunk/circuit - as it has the clocking services functionality. (or u can have just the services card)

a combo card is a 6p expansion card + services card
it means u can add 6 external modules. if all teh 6 ports are used up - then u need another 6p expansion card and as hawks says then XC software

there are 2 trunk slots and 2 expansion slots in the KSU.
