I am upgrading one of our systems. Currently it is an 8x24 with a DS30 feeding the 3.0 fiber NAM w/ co-res Cinphony 1 (version 3.30). Everything is working great. I am upgrading the switch to an 0x32 5.0 so that we can go T1 for our voice, and straight fiber to the NAM. Is there a conflict with MICS 5.0 and the 3.0 NAM?? I have not had this combination before. My other upgrades are all 4.0 NAMs so I just want to be sure before I make the change.

Thanks.

There IS a conflict. Don't do this.

There is even a conflict with NVMail 4.x and Rls 5.x. Although there is a patch, I have not heard of one good first time install with any NAM and Rls 5.x. I would go for a refurb Rls 4.1.1 so Msg waiting lights work on the T series phones when you buy them. I am not sure but there may even be an incompatability between NVmail 3/NAM 3 and ICS Rls 4.1.1. The NAM 3 is a really stable platform the newer NAMs have had the processor speed mucked with in a way I don't understand - slowed down I think. You may have to upgrade the NAM software release. If you don't need the features of ICS Rls 4+, then go to a refurb Rls 3 and your NAM can stay the same... ICS Rls 3 will handle T1. You could also wait and see how stable the new Rls 6 is going to be. One of the new features in Rls 6 is the ability to have T1 cards in trunk modules instead of just in the KSU.

But, most importantly, check all of this with your vendor. Make sure.

You cannot put a 3.0 NAM with a MICS 5.0 the software IS incompatible. If you have a MICS 4.0 or higher you must use NAM 4.0.

I have to say that I have had plenty of successes with the NAM 4.0 with the MICS 5.0. If you install the patch there's not a problem. MRoberts

I have not had any success getting the patch to take, but I may not be making a valid boot disk. Do you have a procedure you use for creating a functioning boot disk?

As this patch only turns off redirect DN, I find it easier to just login with Voicemail Manager and turn it off manually.

Thanks for all the input! Very helpful. I am glad that I asked before I jumped into it.
