The last Weekend we have to remove the energy and the MICS reset to default settings, we almost finish the configuration in all the system, but we have some doubts...

An explanation for this coldreset..... We lost the configuraton because the battery in the system has a failure or we neeed to replace it, is it correct??

are There another causes to resest the system If I remove the energy??

is There a way to backup the configuratin?? We have a MICS 4.0, VM Flash and SMDR.

If I need to replace the battery in the system, will I lose again all the configuration??

Is there any procedure in order to change this battery and preserve the configuration??

Any idea??

Yes, it's a cap issue on the mainboard of the MICS. I'd back it up to a laptop. You may be able to repair it yourself, if you're confident in your soldering skills. If not, I'd program up another KSU, and send the old one in for repair.

Depending on the anticipated length of your power outages, a UPS might be a satisfactory fix, though I'd install one anyway.

And, yes, you will lose programming again when you power it down for repair.

Replace the ram cartridge with rel 2, after doing a backup with remote utilities.

We have a UPS with the MICS, but I need to change the cables, Cold you give more details about the backup process?
Where could I find information about it?

If we need to change the battery I want to be sure that we have a backup

The easiest (though more cumbersome) way is to use pen and paper, and scrawl out any settings that aren't default.

Otherwise, you'll have to get a hold of a fastrad, and connect a laptop to the serial port, and backup that way.

thanks for all your answers.

I have a backup in paper and I'll investigate the option with a fastrad
