Hi everybody,

Maybe I have a newbie question but I still have problem with a 128 Kbits line. We have two nodes with a distance of 50 miles between them.

In node 1, we have cooper connection to a STU device and then the Cisco router to my network. In node 2, we have microwaves connection to a RAD FCD-E1 and then the Cisco router to the network.

The conversion between "cooper data" to microwaves doesn't impact in the network bandwidth or affect the performance between two nodes? I think we have some decrease of network performance.

I am asking this because we want to improve bandwidth from 128 Kbits to 512 or 1024 Kbits line, but with the same configuration.

Thanks in advance.

what frequency are you using? 50 miles can be quite a bit depending on what you are using. There shouldnt be any loss due to copper/microwave conversion. Any losses are probably going to be due to the distance between antenna's. Degg

In this moment I will find out the frecuency are we using on it, but, what is the problem with frecuency and antennas?

About the distance, you mean we are using inappropiate devices for 50 miles distance? I don't have how Avantel is working with this, but from node 1 to Avantel premises is cooper (I think Avantel is about 40 miles from node 1) and the last 10 miles is through microwaves to node 2.

depending on the frequency you use, you can go different distances. 10 should be fine, and it sounds like it is a professional company doing it. I'm not sure where the loss would be, but it shouldnt be from the conversion. Ask them to do a check on your circuit and see what they say. Degg
