prob very easy solution but it is driving me crazy.
When i cut and paste a word to replace another the copy works ok but the original word highlighted to replace also remains in the sentence...any clues

thanks in advance

Is your system in INSERT mode? Try tapping the Insert key once before doing your paste..... just for giggles.

still the same ,both copied text and original text are displayed- even hitting the backspace key won't delete the text I have to use delete...

any other ideas????????

What are the 'track changes' settings? Do the 'cut' words still appear if you go to print preview?

I'm assuming you're using Word 2003 or lower:

Click on Tools -> Options -> Edit (tab) and make sure the Typing replaces selection option is checked.

thanks Vanka25, that did the trick. Much appreciated
