I launch word documents to work on. When I click on the buttons to launch the docs from the task bar and toggle through the docs as I work on them they close out on me. When I go to relaunch I get the document recovery screen.
If I understand correctly, you have a custom TaskBar with documents on it, yes? Precisely, how did you get them there? Did you drag them from Windows Explorer? How are you toggling between the documents? Using the mouse and clicking the items on the TaskBar? Using Tab to get between them?
There is no custom task bar, all I am doing is opening Word, opening two or three word docs, minimizing them and then accessing them again by clicking on it in the taskbar where it is minimized. That's when Word closes and goes through the document recovery process when I reopen them.
This clear states "launch the docs from the task bar". If the documents are loaded, and showing in the task bars, as tasks, then you are simply switching between task. Launch generally means to load.
OK, so you have a bunch of documents open. I can not duplicate you problem. I just tried having seven different documents open, and I can switch between them (using the Taskbar) with no problem at all.
1. How much memory do you have?
2. Do you have other applications open?
3. Are any of these documents opened by code? In other words did some code open these documents, or did you just open them with File > Open, or Windows Explorer?
4. Does this happen all the time, or just once in a while.
5. Does this do similar things with other Office files (Excel for example)?
Basically, the files are opened and minimized. I have 512 M RAM, no other applications are open. These documents simply open by opening word and browsing to the file.(file/open). This happens only in word, it is inconsistant.
This is probably the Handwriting bug manifesting itself (I know it sounds improbable, but...). Run Office Setup from the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and choose Change, Add/Remove Features, Advanced. Under Shared Programs, the first Item is Alternatie Inputs. Mark this as not available and the click OK: Setup will remove the features.
This will clear the bug. After a restart, you may reinstall the alternative inputs if you want to use these features: the problem shouldn't recur.
