I kept getting this error. I believed this error may have caused other problems in my computer.

I just ran into the same problem and can't figure this out either. I suspect that it's related to some other software on the PC because I have other Vista users using the exact same printer (and drivers) without this problem. Unfortunately, I can't get much time to put my hands on that system to work on the problem. In my case the problem is on an HP laptop printing to a networked OKI LPR printer. I suspect something that originally came installed with the system is causing the problem. I was going to try the spool cleaner from the 2K3 resource kit, but haven't tried it yet (I don't know if it will even run on Vista).

That's what I was referring to. I expect it will run, but Vista isn't listed as one of the 'system requirements' for the 2K3 resource kit. Wether or not it acutally solves the problem is TBD [ponder]

Manual cleanup may work where the .exe fails (if it does?), was what I was thinking?

I had this error and fixed it by doing the following...

Deleted all printers except the XPS writer (whatever that is)

Deleted the following registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Publishers\{13e8b4f7-4d1c-4f65-95a2-39c6b26a3012}

After that I rebooted, reinstalled the printers and sent a few test jobs to the printer (webpages). After this the error message is no longer popping up and have not noticed any adverse effects.

I hope this helps

Okay, I tried all that and still receiving the same error in the System event log. I manually delete everything and re-install all the printer drivers back. I also deleted the suggested registry and still the same problem.

the IRQ7 for printer is ok? its not conflicting with anything else u have? and in the device manager says its ok?

just seen this...

Instead of using the printers from the SBS you will to create new printer ports in Vista and let Vista decide what printer it is. If Vista has a printer driver for it the printer will install. The reason for this problem is that SBS does not know Vista.

created local IP ports for the printer

hope this is helpful

Here is what I did. I deleted every drivers. I then log in as local admin. I click start\run and type in \\printServerName\ and then all my printers showed up. I then right click on each of those printers choose connect. Vista then determine if there is a new supported Vista or not, if it is, Vista will prompt me for upgrading the driver. So far all of the printers connected fine, again, if I log in as local admin.

I also tried creating a port in Vista that connects directly to the printer bypassing the print server and this method works too as I specified in one of my threads above; however, I want to use my print server instead of direct connect.

Everything looks fine and dandy in device manager. There is no conflict or anything.

Recheck this Registry Key from your listing above, I don't see any mention of Users (or the Current User) having an Access Permission, such as "Read"? On my machine the Current User is allowed "Full Control".

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers

Perhaps they are covered by the "Restricted" user group?
