Hi
I am setting up a number of laptops (170) for a project, that will need restricted profiles. I am using Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit, and I am progressing along just fine, except one minor issue. Windows Validation.
All PCs use the same corporate license, but none of them are on the internet, and they never will be. Is there an alternative way to Validation? The problem is that Microsoft Shared Computer toolkit refuses to be installed unless the PC is verified.
I even created an .xml file with the restrictions, so I could just do the profile form a command line script, but still, it needs the software to be installed. If I just copy the files to their destination folder from another PC, and try to run it, it will error out saying I need to be an admin to run it. I surely am one, but it still fails. I guess it really needs to be installed on all PCs.
Is there a way to validate the XP laptops off line? I dont want to hook all 170 up to a network just to validate, specially that I would need to do it one by one. I wrote the script for the whole job, I could be done in 1 hour, but it may increase to 2 days if I need to validate online.
Thanks for any help,
Ben
