I have setup a project plan using Microsoft Project. For some reason when I click any of the views it defaults back to January 1986. My tasks do not start until August 2004. Does anyone know of how to change the default view so that it starts with the first task?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

From the Project drop down menu, pick Project Information and select your Project Start Date

Hope this helps (I am on MS Project 2000)

Thanks for the response. I tried that and it didn't work. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

How about:

Open a blank (new) project.

Cick on Tools | Options | Schedule-tab | and click on the "New tasks start on" to select "Start on the Current Date".

Click on File | Exit.

Start Project.

Open your existing project and choose the same options.

Save it.
Exit from Project.

Now, open your existing project and create some new tasks. What happens?

(btw, what version of Project are you using?)
