For some reason my stupid microsoft word and other programs will not start without this dumb screen that says windows installer popping up. I always click on cancel and then after a couple of seconds the program pops up, but no new documents are open. i've tried reinstalling it but it won't work.
I also have had problem recently, the program will now not open at all, it just freezes on the install screen.
Finally, I just want to get rid of all this useless stuff on startup such as svhost, CIADeMON or whatever its called, etc. I see these programs runing on the task manager and I cannot close them, the access is denied. thanks for the help

If access is denied are you sure you're an admin?
It's not advisable to just disable startup programs unless you're sure of what they do. i usally google things that aren't obvious.
As for Office not installing, make sure you uninstall it correctly first. How was it installed the first time? Which version is it?

Anything in this lot?

WINDOWS INSTALLER PROGRAM POPS UP

Various Error Messages When MSI File Creates and Modifies Files and Registry Keys

Reregister or Re-install MSI Installer.
324516 - "The Windows Installer service could not be accessed" error message when you try to install Office

The SVCHOST.EXE processes are run from the SYSTEM account and cannot easily be terminated, if at all (as they are necessary for the OS to run).

CiDaemon.exe is the 'Indexing Service'. If it runs amok (which it has a bit of a reputation for doing) then you may need to go to 'Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services' and set the 'Indexing Service' to 'Manual' or 'Disabled'.

What, exactly, does the Windows Installer error show? Is it a '1706' error?

oh the error is not a windows installer error.
what happens is when I try to open up word or any other office program and installer screen comes up. If I let it run it says that I need more stuff to be installed and a screen asking for a disk pops up, I just click cancel and then the program starts normally. I just want to get rid of this.

OK... if it's not a Windows Installer error then what does the Windows Installer screen show when it appears?

Does it mention '1706' when it asks for the installer CD?

Is this something that that just happened for the first time this past week? There were several Office Updates released this week, and if you are set up to automatically receive such an update it may require the Install CD to complete the install of the updates?

Why don't you give it the CD or whatever it is asking for to see if that solves the problem?
