Microsoft announced that the .NET Framework 4.5 and higher is not supported by POS Ready 2009; can anyone explain how this will effect POS systems that are using POS Ready 2009 on FOH POS Stations? I understand the POS Ready 2009 OS has a huge installed base in POS systems and need to understand how this may effect our clients down the road regarding any need to upgrade their systems.

For the many Aloha users who still use this OS, most likly have not kept up on their software maintenance and are using older version of aloha. For anyone wanting to upgrade dealers are pushing them to newer hardware with win7 embedded. Sadly, the cost is so outrageous for this equipment. Many are looking at other POS systems that cost less. IMO, as long as you dont mind processing credit cards through external chip reader you can use any version of Aloha you want.

Thanks AlohaRoss. We have less than two dozen clients that own windows based POS systems but concerned about info they will begin receiving re: potential upgrades and costs due to the POS Ready 2009 issue. A majority of the sites have Aloha TS series 6 (6.4, 6.7), and a majority of them process credit cards through the POS system (no stand alone devices). If you have POS Ready 09, does it mean they will be unable to upgrade the system to current version due to 4.5 .NET? Will any POS Station with PR 09 STOP working completely, IOW: no POS functions? Will just credit card processing cease working on any POS Station with PR 09? We like to gather information from multiple sources to find a middle of the road analysis.
